The item browser has a special view mode that shows deleted items.
Deleted items are items that did not exist when the layer was captured, but still exist in some previous layer.
Deleted items are shown with a striped background.
You can toggle the display of deleted items using the Show Deleted toolbar button.

, deleted items become regular items in the archive. AnyShowing deleted items changes how the various recall commands work. When deleted items are visible, recalling a folder will also recall all of the deleted items in that folder.
The good news: this makes it easy to recall a bunch of deleted item.
The bad news: Recalling a folder will recall every deleted item that's ever been in that folder. This can be problematic for packages (which include applications); recalling old files inside an application package could interfere with the application, even preventing it from running.
